I just got back from my business trip. Literally just got back like 10 minutes ago! I still had my suitcase in my hand when I turned on the computer. (That's a bit of an exaggeration!) I was so happy to have so many comments on my blog from my fam!
I've also enjoyed catching up on what everyone else has written. If you haven't read Jill's story about classical music I highly recommend it. I would also highly recommend looking at the picture on Stephanie's page of her parents wedding! Our mom looks exactly the same as she did when she was younger. She's so beautiful! Check it out, both links are on the right hand side of my page.

AA meeting
I have a confession...I'm addicted to blogging! The first thing I think of in the morning is "I wonder who commented on my blogs." When I get home from work I turn my computer on before any of the lights in my house so that once I get settled and let the dogs out of their room, I can quickly get online and see who has updated their blogs! I think it's such a fun way to keep in touch with people. Plus, it's like journaling for the 21st century. I've been wanting to print and keep my blogs with pictures and all and put them in a scrapbook or something so that years from now, my grandchildren will be able to read my blog and learn about my life just like we do with mom's journals. Okay, maybe I'm getting a little too serious about blogging! :) I'm going out of town for 3 days on a business trip so I won't be able to blog while I'm away. Maybe the break will get me back in touch with reality!

Sunday Afternoon
This is what keeps Trav and I busy on a Sunday afternoon! :) There isn't any sound. Sorry!
Weekend with Mom and Kent
Mom and Kent and Michelle were at our house this weekend. We had tons of fun having them here. We met Mindy and her family at the Shark Reef which was super cool.
It was a fun weekend!
Mom and Kent treated us to a yummy dinner at a buffet.
Even though we all had gorged
ourselves and made at least one trip to the dessert line at the buffet, we still came home to have Nothing Bundt Cake for Mom and Kent's birthdays!
We were super excited because Kent was Mr. Fix It this weekend! He fixed our garage door which hasn't been opening for us, he also programed our remotes so they open the garage door too, he fixed a light in our living room that didn't work, he fixed our doorbells which also didn't work and he helped me program our pool AND he fixed our water heater pump so that we longer have to wait 10 minutes (literally) for the hot water to heat up. Travis and I used to get up, turn on the shower, then get back in bed for 10-15 minutes! He's no doubt saved us tons on our water bill! I think we'll have Kent come down more often! :) Mostly because we enjoy his company though.
It was a fun weekend!

1.Were you named after anyone?
Yes, the character Emily from Saturday's Warrior because I was the last little girl in heaven to come down to my family! :)
2. When was the last time you cried?
When President Hinkley passed. He became the prophet when I was 13 years old. My patriarchal blessings specifically says "Follow to words of President Hinkley." I'm sure I always will!
3. Do you like your handwriting?
HATE it. That's why I type everything on my computer: shopping lists, dinner menus, notes to Travis! :) I wish I could write like Mom.

Turkey. But only if it's real turkey.
5. Do you have kids?
Yes, a 100 lb girl and a 95 lb boy. They're my dogs!

Probably not at first. I'm a little stand off ish. But the people who are close to me, I REALLY love and spend a lot of time caring about.
7. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I've never used sarcasm about anything.....you can't really catch my sarcastic tone in print can you? :) I pretty much use it every day.
8. Do you still have your tonsils? No, and up until last year it was the only surgery I've ever had! :)
9. Would you bungee jump? It may sound crazy but I would rather sky dive. I only want to fall once. I don't want to keep bouncing back up and it seems like the view would be better.
10. What is your favorite cereal?
Blueberry Morning. I don't eat it anymore because it's really bad for me.
11. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
I don't wear a lot of shoes with laces. I wear slip on heels every day!

14. What is the first thing you notice about people?
I know it sounds shallow but I notice how they present themselves, their clothes, their hair, their facial expressions, posture etc. My favorite class in college was non-verbal communication so I always pay attention to the non-verbal cues people send out.
15. Red or pink?
Pink!!! I'm very girly. In fact, I'll make a confession, the real reason I liked doing pageants so much is because it's like playing dress up and people actually want to watch!

17. Who do you miss the most?
My whole family. I think about them every day. I still miss when we all lived at home together!

Yes but only to someone I didn't like. She gave us a gift so we felt we had to give her one. Oopps, and I gave mom some gold silver wear we got for our wedding. But that's because I knew how much she would like it!
21. What are you listening to right now?
My dogs nails sliding across our tile floor as they scurry into their carpeted room to play.
22. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Magenta. I remember during General Conference one year in Oak City when
I was probably 5 years old that Mom gave me a new box of crayons and a coloring book to keep me busy. I was sitting next to the blue couch kind of by the mud bathroom coloring and I pulled out a Magenta crayon. I couldn't read it so I asked Mom what color it was. Kind of....there's that sarcasm again! Of course I do! I used to live with her. (Mindy!) I still remember that summer. I was watching Christian one night and he was throwing the fit to end all fits. Later when he calmed down, he looked up at me and said, "Emily, you did a good job at handling 'bad Christian.' " :)
I think we must have skipped a lot of these questions.
31. Scary movies or happy endings?
It must be a Hyde thing because I won't even watch the previews to scary movies. I don't feel the spirit when I'm scared so I'd just rather avoid that feeling.

Cast Away. I cried when he talked about losing his girl all over again. I cry every time Tom Hanks misses someone.... "I miss you Jenny." (Forest Gump is my favorite movie by the way!)

Mine works in the buff as well.

Italy I think. I should look at a map of Europe! I'm so bad a geography!

Employee of the Year!!!
I did it! I succesfully pulled off the biggest night of the year. Everything went so perfectly. It was a huge success! All the nominees only had great things to say about their whole experience and my boss got up at the end and gave me very nice compliments. It was one of the proudest (not in a scriptural sense) moments of my life so far! I've attached some photos so you can all see!

Employee of the Year
So tomorrow is quite possibly the biggest day of my career! I'm putting on the Employee of the Year gala! It's a formal gala where guests will arrive in limos on a red carpet in evening gowns and tuxes and one employee will be named the NYNY 2007 Employee of the Year. Needless to say, it's a very important event. I've been at work all day setting up with the audio visual team, the decor company and the caterers. It's been so smooth that it feels a little too easy! I'm worried that at 5pm tomorrow just before the guests start arriving I'll have this huge "Ah ha!" moment when I'll realize all the things I've forgotten! I'm actually more excited than nervous. We're holding the event at the Conference Center at MGM Grand since our property doesn't have any ballrooms big enough to house such a huge event. It's definately like the Oscars of employee events. I'll bring my camera tomorrow and take photos of the evening so you can all catch a glimpse of the night.
It will actually be the last event that I'll be 100% in charge of. After tomorrow, I'll start learning my new role as the HR Manager and pass on the event planning details to my new specialist. She started last week and has been thrown into helping me with the last minute details. I think she's probably a little scared that in her first week, she's seeing the biggest event of the year knowing next year she'll be in charge. I think she'll do a good job though. I will definately miss event planning but from the sounds of it, my new position will allow me to still come up with the creative side of it and then my specialist will have to do the leg work! Which doesn't sound like too bad of a trade off! :)
I won't post tomorrow night since I'll be at the gala but I'll come ready with pics to post on Wednesday! Thanks for reading my blog!
