Birthday Weekend

So this week I turned 25 and Travis turned 27. This is the first birthday that I actually feel like I'm an adult. I feel like I can't be faking it anymore, I actually have to be an adult! I literally had the best birthday I've ever had. When I got up in the morning, Travis had a card from me...
It was one of those cards with sound so when I opened it said, "Inconceivable!" It was funny. He also gave me a gift card to my favorite store in the mall-The Limited. We both took Friday off and went shopping! When I got to work my office had got me a Nothing Bundt Cake and I think we all know how I feel about those! Then in the middle of the day I got a call from our Bell Desk telling me I had a very perishable delivery. I went upstairs and it was a bouquet of 24....not red roses, 24 chocolate covered strawberries!!
Travis found this place called Edible Creations where you can send fruit arrangements. Most of them are like pineapple pieces and melon pieces cut into the shape of flowers but they had a special arrangement of all chocolate covered strawberries! It was quite a treat. Of course I shared with my office and they all praised Travis all day!

That night after work, Travis took me for dinner at the Bellagio. He requested a table at a restaurant that over looked the fountains so we got front row seats to 5 water shows during dinner! It was so beautiful. We don't do touristy things enough. We decided that night that we should take more advantage of all the cool things Vegas has to offer.

For Travis's birthday, Mom and Kent sent him a gift card to Home Depot so we used that to buy a little roll out grill. It's the best gift I've ever gotten! :) Because Travis has made me dinner every night since we got it! The first night it was steak and cheesy potatoes and last night it was an amazing, bbq chicken, Caesar salad, grilled corn on the cob and chicken flavored rice. (the rice he made on the stove!) Thanks Mom and Kent! This was the best birthday ever!

Bad Dogs!

I think it's very evident from reading this blog or after talking with me for only a few minutes that I am crazy about my 2 dogs. However, sometimes they test my patience. We left them locked in their room all day Saturday and came home in the evening to find this.

Needless to say, we were a little unhappy.

Survival

I've been very overwhelmed at work lately. I started a new job that I know absolutely nothing about! I'm learning every day but I have to admit I do get a little sad when I look outside my office and see my new event planner inflating balloons or counting jelly beans for a candy guess game. My job used to be very easy and very fun! I guess if I want to be anything more than a bean counter I have to learn other areas of HR!

Last Friday I felt especially lost in my job. I was in a meeting where everyone else knew exactly what they were talking about so I just took notes and pretended I knew what they were saying too. I've adapted this new motto. I think I'll hang it in my office.

Sister!

I'm so glad to find out my sister Julie is blogging now! I always think about her and her family so I'm so happy I get to read about and see more of her. Her blog site is on my links now!

Finally!

I fiinally finished painting the entry way and touched up the living room. All the blue tape has FINALLY come down! I printed and hung some pics in our entry way and put up some wall cubes and candles in our bedroom. We still have 3 shelves to put up once we decide where they should go. But its coming along!

Goat Day!

Today we got Travis's Christmas gift from Matthew and Jessica. It was hilarious! We've always joked with them about how earthy they are and how we're sure they go out and milk their goat every morning in their leederhosen while gathering nuts and berries to eat for breakfast! So in the gift basket was a hand knit pair of red and blue leederhosen,

A can of goat's milk, a flameless candle and a picture of Matthew next to a goat. There was also a poem written by Jessica.

The poem was too funny not to share...

"I was walking through the valley,
I went running through the glen,
And then I stopped to write for you
with this pad and pen.

This morning at the milking,
I stopped to think of you.
And as the goat was "bahhing"
I knew just what I'd do.

I'd share the milk with those I love
to give them nutri"ants"
and with the milk I'll give a pair of
very special pants

These leederhosen works so well
to keep you warm and dry
(but please wear something underneath,
and please don't ask me why!)

And for those late milkings
a candle to light the way,
with no worry of a fire
if you stick in in the hay

With a fragrant sent to ease the pain
of goat smell all the while.
Now you can go and milk the goat
and do it all in style

Now Merry Christmas Travis dear
And have a great new year!
Just pray we don't switch to drinking milk
from Santa's old reindeer!"

Thanks Matthew and Jessica!!!!

Summer almost

So in Las Vegas, we kinda skip Fall and Spring. We just go from very very cold, to very very hot. 3 weeks ago it was 35-40 degrees every day. Today it was 80 degrees! It's nice right now but that's just a foreshadowing of what's to come! I remember my first summer in Vegas, it got to 115 degrees and they had to cancel all flights because it was too hot for the planes to take off!

I am happy we have a pool now. It hasn't been serviced yet and we need some definite foliage to guard us from any peering neighbors. Jane's favorite place to lay when we let her out is perched right up on the hot tub ledge. Today when I got home, she had put her front paws on top of the wall and was looking into our neighbors yard!! I'm sure that must be a scary sight from the other side. I picture the kids from the sandlot running away from..."The Beast....forever, forever!!!"

Still Addicted

I'm sorry it's been almost a week since I posted. I really am addicted still I just have been so exhausted every night when I get home that I just hurry and eat something and lay in bed. Except last night! I finally got around to painting our entry way so this weekend we can hang all the cool stuff we bought at West Elm.

Not sure if you can see the colors on the computer but it's quite a nice change from bright yellow to neutral tan!

That chandelier has got to go!

Many thanks

Travis appreciates all your efforts in calling the "b" word e-log, CJ (computerized journaling) or any other name that's not so offensive!

He wants to officially state for the record that he was not flexing but that his arms are just that rippling on their own! His secret is "gym for 2 hours a day and 1/2 scoop of creatine mixed gently with love."

This is Travis flexing!

Kinley, Travis also says thanks for putting him in your top five!

Blog...I mean E-log

So the only reason Travis can't support my blogging habit is because he hates the word blog. Every time I try to get him to read something I've written or want him to read or watch a video from another blog he says, "Only if you give it a different name." I have to say "web post" or something before he'll even come within 10 feet of the computer!

So he has officially decided to call these logs, E-logs. Tonight I will be changing the title on my page to correspond with this new name. If you value the content of your pages and having Travis read them, I suggest you do the same. :) Happy E-logging!

Late

Okay, I'm officially going to be late for work today because I was sucked in reading everyone's blogs this morning! Poor Jill and the dentist! Kyle's dog tricks are amazing! And I've officially resolved to hike in Zion with the St. George clan before summer starts! I'm painting this week so I should be able to post some new pics this weekend of the decor we'll put up. Hurray!

Saturday is a special day!

We had a big day Saturday! When we bought our couch last month from West Elm (my new favorite store, maybe because it's kinda close to my name!) they had a deal going on that if you applied for their store credit card, whatever amount you spent you got a certain amount back in gift cards at their store. So Saturday morning in the mail we got the gift cards to the store and spent over an hour doing some guilt free shopping! We got some shelves for the wall, a rug, and some really cool picture frames. It will take us a while to get everything up on the walls since the room we want to put the frames and shelves in still hasn't been painted! I'll take some pics once we finally get them set up. I actually love the store so much that I'm going to start working there next week part time! Don't tell them this but I'm only going to work for a few months so I can get the 40% discount at all of their stores. Which include Pottery Barn and Williams and Sonoma! :)

We also went with Travis's sister Autumn to buy a new car! She got a Honda Civic Hybrid. It's really cute and environmentally friendly! Travis is such a good deal maker! He was bargaining and bartering until we got the price she needed. I'm lucky to have him! He's so smart and brave!

We also learned that Jane is afraid of Tuck. We gave them both new bones and when Tuck stole Jane's and was hording both bones, Jane just kept peeking around the corner at Tuck who was viciously growling at her. Despite what Travis keeps saying, I really think we need to get him fixed. He's starting to show a little too much aggression and being a little too territorial for my liking!
