Zion

We went on a super fun camping trip in Zion this weekend with Mindy and Kyle's fam and Julie and Jason's fam. Mike and Mom and Kent came up for dinner around the camp fire too. The next day we hiked to Emerald Pools in Zion and had a blast! We broke only a few rules along the way!

The sign says no swimming but...

Crazy!

So on Monday it was a record high temperature for May. 112 degrees. 4 days later, it was 56 degrees in the middle of the day! 1/2 what it was 4 days earlier...a drop of 56 degrees in 96 hours...if you can't tell, I'm a little shocked. I think it's the switch in temperature. Did I mention it dropped 56 degrees? :)

If we weren't shell shocked enough, when we went to the gas station this weekend, gas was $4.03 a gallon! Granted that was the premium gas price which is what we have to use but still! We're sure the outrageous weather and high gas prices are a sign of the second coming. :)

1st runner up is better anyway...right?

Is any one else as shocked and disappointed that David Archuleta didn't win American Idol? I seriously text my vote like 40 times on Tuesday. I didn't think I'd have to vote at all because I figured he was a shoe in. But to be safe I voted. Maybe 12 million other people thought he was a shoe in too and decided not to vote!

Well, on to a much less exciting but I guess more important vote in November :)

Hot Hot Hot!

Well, it's time to say good bye to Spring in Las Vegas. :( Today it officially got over 100 degrees and there are no signs of turning back until fall. I've been wanting it to warm up for several months I just didn't think it would happen with such a vengeance!
Luckily, Travis was able to fix our air conditioner just in time! As some of you already know, my dogs had a hay day when we first moved in and ripped all the wires out of our A/C. We didn't do anything about it then because it was February. Travis and his friend spent only 1/2 hour outside rewiring and then like manna from heaven, cold air started pouring through our vents! There are still a couple of tweaks that a professional will have to fix. Like the fact that it won't automatically turn off when it reaches the set temp! But for now, we're happy to just have cold air! :)

Finally Fish!

We FINALLY got our fish tank moved into our new house this weekend! The aquarium store moved it for us and we asked them to fix a few problems it was having and it took them 4 months to get it back to us! We've left the space empty in our house knowing one day we would fill it with the tank and today we did. As you can see, there aren't any fish actually in it yet. We have to let the water cycle for a few days before it will be safe to put anything living in it. It will be a nice addition to our home as soon as it's filled with colorful fish and coral!

Cute Bathroom

So I spent all my free time this weekend painting my bathroom. I loved the color until the very end when all of the sudden it looked very blue! It was supposed to be gray which it was for a long time. Weird how paint can look different when it's in a whole room. Anyway, I'm going to see if I grow to like it, otherwise I'll be spending next weekend changing the color! I did put up some cute decorations and new towels!

I've decided that a close second to teleporting would be the ability to snap my fingers and the walls in my house would change colors until I found one I liked! Seriously! Painting takes so long!

Becoming Jane

Have any of you seen the movie "Becoming Jane?" Oh my goodness! I watched it last night and it has effected me so much that when I was telling Travis about it this morning I bursted into tears all over again! It's about Jane Austen and her inspiration for writing Pride and Predjudice. It's very interesting because you see all the people in Jane's life that inspired the characters for P&P. The movie info says it's based on the actual life of Jane Austen but I don't know how much of it is actually true. It really affected me. I totally recommend it!!
